Film 201 visiting artist

Our visiting artist, whom I will not name because if her name is ever googled this blog will be shown publically, in my opinion, was the biggest joke of an "artist" that I have ever seen, placing in first just ahead of Vito Acconci. I simply could not believe that her work would ever be taken seriously by any well-respected gallery or art institution of any kind.
In regard to the first film shown "I'm not afraid to die", the girl seemed out of place- but she did not see herself as out of place. She seemed to be in thought about something, or in reflection. She seemed comfortable and content, possibly a representation of the artist's relationship with nature...

But just because I can draw my own personal meaning from it (meaning drawn forcefully by the fact that I fear a poor grade, or confrontation in regard to a disrespect for the artist from a proffesor or TA, otherwise if asked in an informal environment I would say it was terrible and a joke and leave it at that) does not mean that the film itself was at all aesthetically pleasing, or in any way interesting. I could take a 6 minute film of my coffee table and - if forced to- and if in the situation where they would feel that they would be sought as rude or close-minded or as someone who does not have appreciation for whatever people decide they will claim as "art" - people could draw many immensely profound intentions and symbolisms from the film of my coffee table, though in reality I may have only taken a film of the coffee table because, well, just because. If meaning was to be drawn from this coffee table film, I believe it is a credit to the voyeur, not the artist who made it. I apologize to anyone that is offended by my opinion, but I don't feel I should have to conform my honest ideas to what I believe a professor or film class would be impressed hearing.
In discussion of the music videos, we all agreed that it was cheesy. Some said that the singers were not good enough to be filmed, but I disagree. I enjoyed their music, however, the still, unmoving, continuous shot not an entertaining presentation of the musicians.
I come off like I so passionately hate this artist's work, but it is more my annoyance and frustration with the obnoxious intellectuals that insist on believing that everything is art as long as the creators call themselves artists and as long as they are proud enough to take themselves seriously.
